This site is for a discussion and exposition of the mathematical methods best suited to making society work. See Social Technology for a list of the main ones. The newest and most dangerous is Recursive Exhaustion.
I describe the process of social change envisioned on this collection of websites as evolution or migration or annealing. All of these would be helpful in defining a word using the synonym cloud method. But I have no word for it myself. I show a possible method of inventing one elsewhere.
The word ‘evolution’ should evoke the Fabian Society’s “Evolution Not Revolution”. The word ‘migration‘ should suggest change from one system to another without loss. Annealing refers to a process by which defects in a substance are gradually removed, often by gentle heating to a carefully selected temperature then very slow cooling. All three terms are evocative, but none is exactly right.
On other websites the development and use of software for social evolution or migration is discussed. Here it is only the underlying mathematics. I assure people for whom the word ‘mathematics’ induces traumatic fear that the math will be hidden in software, but presumably anyone who has come to this site has been raised without this phobia or managed to conquer it.
I think that any truly advanced, high-tech software must contain powerful mathematics inside it. Indeed, I think the use of mathematics is the hallmark of technological progress.
On various posts I will discuss some of the more important mathematical techniques. They include the most powerful methods I know of, categorical spectral operations.
